Yayy school is done!! Hope everyone did great in classes and on finals. Thanks to our awesome general members for helping out soo much, and thank you to everyone who came to the SEC shows! We had a great year and are SO stoked for the fall... we already have some great ideas for shows! Don't forget to come to our recruitment meeting in September, we want YOU to join SEC

Hello, it's Jen B/JB/JBizzle Holla!

 

If you don’t know me then I’ll tell you that I have been on the wonderful SEC for three years now.  I started out as Administrative Secretary and this year I am the President of Special Events.  At first I was so nervous to take this position because I felt like I would not know what to do.  After getting a great sub-committee, I felt fine.  We all work so well together and we also have amazing general members. 

My favorite event that we have put on this year is Kyle Cease.  He came for SEC Wintermadness and he is just hysterical.  My favorite event that SEC has EVER brought was Dane Cook.  I got to meet him and quick story: so my last name is Baker (durr) and I decided that when I got to meet him I would say: Hey Dane, so my last name is Baker and I think we should get married because then I can go from being a Baker to a Cook. 

This is pretty much what happened:

Me: Hey Dane, my last name is Baker so you should marry me…

Dane Cook: OMG I get it, Baker-Cook haha, that is awesome!

Signs my CD with Let’s get married, Baker-cook haha! Love Dane.

That is why SEC rules!  If it weren’t for this organization I would not be at URI today.  My advice to anyone reading this is get involved, if you are not already…it may change your life!  Sorry if my blog is lame...I'm def. not lame in real life (I hope!)

All the participants did such a great job last Monday at the American Eagle Challenge, but we want to send a special congrats to our winners: Billy Horrigan, Ahmed Bharoocha, Zach Heir, and Andrew Mayer. 

If you are friends with these guys, make sure you come out and support them at our comedy show on March 5th. If you don't know them, come to the show anyway to see how funny they really are !! There will be three professional comedians there as well, check out our "upcoming events" page for more info.

New EXEC. Postion!
The bad news is: our lovely Concerts Advertising Manager is leaving. The good news is: if you are interested in applying to be on the executive board, the position is now open. Stop by our office in the Memorial Union (room 208) to pick up an app. They are due by Monday at 3:00 in the office. Make sure you signup for an interview time as well ! Can't wait to see all of your lovely faces!
